Do I own my website if I pay monthly?
It depends on the company, so ask before you sign. With us, your domain and content are yours from day one, the site itself stays ours while you subscribe, and after 12 months you can buy it outright for a published price that drops every year.
Monthly website plans are common now and they vary a lot. Some are a lease: stop paying and the site is gone, and you never had a way to keep it. Some are a payment plan: after a set term, the site is yours. Some are somewhere in between.
Three questions sort them out. Who owns the domain name (it should be you, registered in your name, always)? What happens to your content, photos, and writing if you leave (you should get all of it)? And is there a way to buy the site, at a price you can see now, not one made up later?
How ours works
Your domain, logo, photos, and writing are yours from the start. The design and code stay ours while you're subscribed, which is what lets us include hosting, updates, and a redesign every four years. After 12 months you can buy it outright: $3,500 after the first year, $2,000 after the second, $500 after the third. You never pay more in total than someone who bought the same site up front.
